5 cities to warm you up this cold winter
As the cold air sweeps through China, you might start to miss the warm sunshine and summer breeze. Instead of lying next to the heater, why not escape the cold in some of the many other cities and continue to enjoy pleasant weather plenty of sunlight. Here are the 5 cities offering you shelter from the freezing winds.
During winter there are no cities as warm as Sanya in China. This tropical city, located the farthest south of Hainan province is a very popular tourist coastal city, being famous for the name “Oriental Hawaii”. The temperature can be around 25 to 28 degrees during winter, which is quite comfortable for those who fear the cold.
Xishuangbanna is a Dai Autonomous Region situated at the farthest south of Yunnan province, with a pleasant climate throughout the whole year. The average temperature is 18 to 22 degrees; even in the coldest month, January, it is still around 16 degrees. This sub-tropical region, being called “the kingdom of plants” and “the kingdom of animals”, is a wonder to visit as there are villages belonging to various ethnic groups, who still have a traditional life and are very hospitable towards tourists all over the world.
Kunming, renowned for “the city of spring”, is the provincial capital of Yunnan province. For its beautiful and unique natural landscape, it has become one of the most popular tourist cities in China. The Stone Forest, Dianchi Lake, the Golden Temple are the highlights and must-visit attractions of the city. In the coldest month of the year, the temperature still remains around 8 to 15 degrees, with sufficient warm sunshine and infrequent rain.
Xiamen, once known as Amoy, is made up of charming islands and fascinating coastline. It is a very good place for a more relaxed and cleaner escape from the noise of big cities. The top sights in the city include Gulangyu, Xiamen University, Nanputong Temple and Huli shan Fortress. The average temperature throughout the year is 21 degrees and in the winter, it is quite warm (around 8 to 15 degrees) compared to northern cities in China.
Located in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Beihai is a charming tourist city due to amazing subtropical seaside scenery and pleasant climate. The quality of air is always regarded as the best in China, containing a high quantity of negative oxygen ions being able to relax the mind and relieve fatigue. The annual mean temperature is around 22.9 degrees and it is around 10 to 15 degrees during the cold winter.
