It was previously known as The School for the Children of Workers and Staff Members of The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, which was founded and developed in 1992 with the support of former state leaders. However, in 2001, Beijing Normal University formally took over and it became an important experimental and demonstration center for Beijing Normal University to serve the basic education. As of July 2017, it boasts of 68 teaching classes, more than 2,300 students and over 300 faculty members.
