1st LD-Writethru: 5.1-magnitude quake hits SW China's Yunnan

Kunming, June 10 (Xinhua) - A 5.1-magnitude earthquake shook Shuangbai County in Chuxiong and autonomous prefecture of Yunnan province of Southwest at 7:46 p.m (Beijing time) Thursday, according to China's earthquake networking center (CENC). The epicenter was monitored at 24.34 degrees north latitude and 101.91 degrees of oriental length, in a depth of 8 km, the center said.

There were no immediate reports of deaths or injury, but the authorities are further reviewing situations and rescue forces are rapidly riding, according to the management office of Emergencies of Chuxiong prefecture.

SHUANGBAI County Seat Residents said the earthquake felt strongly, but it did not last long. The earthquake also felt in the provincial capital of Kunming. EndItem
