Teaching is hard work and some teachers never grow to be anything better than mediocre. They do the bare minimum required and very little more. The great teachers, however, work tirelessly to create a challenging, nurturing environment for their students and make you welcome between students.

This article will tell you how you can make yourself be welcomed among students and what characteristics you should have to make you a great teacher.

Respect students

A great teacher respects their students. In a great teacher’s classroom, each person’s ideas and opinions are valued. Students feel safe to express their feelings and learn to respect and listen to others. This teacher creates a welcoming learning environment for all students. When students have some different perspective of the teacher, it's generally because of the difference in culture.

Create good feeling in the class

A great welcomed teacher will create good feeling during the class; make each student feel that they belong in the class. In the classroom, everyone is equal and has a chance to express themselves. Each student is aware that he or she is an important, integral part of the group. Everyone in the class is happy to learn.

Warm, accessible and caring

This person is approachable, not only to students, but to everyone on campus. This is the teacher to whom students know they can go with any problems or concerns or even to share a funny story. Great teachers possess good listening skills and take time out of their way- busy schedules for anyone who needs them. If this teacher is having a bad day, no one ever knows—the teacher leaves personal baggage outside the school doors. These kinds of teachers are welcomed not only among students but also teachers and employers.

Love and enthusiastic learning

A great teacher has his own love in learning and is enthusiastic in his/her teaching. He will always inspire students with his passion for education and for the course material. No matter what unhappy things happen in his life he always keeps learning and teaches students enthusiastically.

A sense of humor

Having a sense of humor can make students feel relaxed. A welcomed teacher should have this kind of characteristic to make your class full of energy.
