Beijing, August 17 (Xinhua) - China's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs highlighted the prevention and measures of mitigation of specific disasters in different areas to ensure an autumn harvest of bumper.

While the autumn grain area increases and crops are growing well, the greatest threat to harvest is meteorological disasters, the ministry said.

China will probably see more frequent extreme weather conditions in August and September, with rain storms, floods and more regional droughts, the forecasts of the country meteorological authorities said.

Efforts should prevent early frost in northeastern China and restore production after disasters on the Yellow River, the Huaihe River and the Haihe River regions, The ministry said.

South China should be alert to disasters, such as autumn droughts and tifoo ns. Northwest China should take advantage of the possible rains nearby to restore crop growth, the ministry said.
