**Empowering future innovators through a social impact lens**
MIT Sloan Fellow and physicians assistant Erin Dawicki is making it happen as part of her aspiration to make Lyme testing accessible, affordable. The MIT IDEAS Social Innovation Challenge helps students hone their entrepreneurship skills by creating viable ventures for public good; this program has been in place since 2009 with the purpose of giving a platform where young innovators can present and get funding while they showcase projects which are socially impacting and could be used to tackle real-world problems, **1.** In fact IDEAS teams have made presentations on numerous occasions at various competitions such as MIT's "IDEA" competition held during spring semester - for instance: it was only a matter of time before someone figured out how simple tests were in reality; The Lyme Alert team talks with supporters and receives an award ceremony which is just one example among others, **2.** this being the case we know that such ventures are not simply theoretical but actual cases where students have made their mark by presenting at various competitions held both within MIT as well internationally - it shows what happens when a group of young innovators decide to tackle real world problems via social innovations and receive support from an entire institution; **3.** these teams received funding while they showcased projects which are socially impacting, such is the case with Lyme Alert for example this being part showing that ventures like testing at home can be made simple: as it happens one does not require a whole lab to test - all you need really would be something akin to "Find Work Abroad" but in terms of getting an entire new industry up and running, **4.** the MIT IDEAS Social Innovation Challenge has been going since 2009 with purpose giving young innovators platform for presenting socially impacting projects; The caption shows Erin Dawick at a workshop held during spring semester along credits Photo Keyla Sanchez Tapia - which is just one example of various other ventures students have brought to competitions, **5.** this being the case we know that such teams are not simply theoretical but actual cases where innovators tackled real world problems via socially impacting projects; The purpose here isn't about having an entire lab for testing it's rather making tests simple and affordable - which is exactly what Erin Dawicki aims to do with her aspiration, **6.** this being a point of great interest one sees the case made by various students as they take part in competitions within MIT itself such that ventures like Lyme Alert are merely an example where there have been cases when young innovators tackle real world problems - all you need really would be something akin to "Find Work Abroad" but what happens is exactly this taking place right now; **7.** one could say teams of students took part in competitions within MIT itself, the case made by various IDEAS participants as they take presentations on simple ventures such that home testing for Lyme disease - which only requires a test tube and some minutes to check color change:
As we conclude this article it is clear now more than ever how **Empowering future innovators through a social impact lens** has been put into practice by students from MIT via the IDEAS Social Innovation Challenge since 2009. These ventures aim at making real-world problems simple, affordable and accessible - Erin Dawicki aspires to make Lyme testing this way for everyone around her: such is one example where taking part in competitions held within or outside of MIT shows what happens when young innovators tackle actual world problems via socially impacting projects; The case now has been made quite clear.
